Northeast View Information Stand
Northeast View Information Stand - To the east lies a land of many surprises: some subtle, some bold. On the distant horizon, Navajo Mountain - sacred to several Native American tribes - towers toward the sky. Much closer, but only partially visible from here, the gorge of the Little Colorado River slices one-half mile into the earth. The landscape seems consciously designed. The abrupt contrast between the flat plateau lands to the east and Grand Canyon's jarring chasm amplifies the canyon's enormity and grandeur. The Palisades of the Desert, guarding Grand Canyon's eastern edge, drop like a waterfall from the flat surface and plunge toward the Colorado River below. Other Points of Interest labeled on the Information Stand: Vermilion Cliffs, Cape Solitude, Shinumo Altar, Comanche Point, Echo Cliffs, Palisades of the Desert, Navajo Mountain, Little Colorado River Gorge, The Painted Desert and Cedar Mountain.
