This statement on your site is incorrect:
“Nimitz, West Virginia got its name in September of 1947 when Admiral Chester Nimitz and others landed there at the Jim Ball Airfield in a C-47 aircraft. He named the post office Nimitz which at the time was Jumping Branch. - T. Lilly”

As the attached First Day Covers, from my collection, clearly show, it was named Nimitz on September 10, 1945.
